Healing Energies: The Pranic and The Reiki

Auras, Chakras, Learn To Be Psychic February 25th, 2010

4727262_blogYou have probably come across some New Age terms such as “chakra”, “prana”, “aura”, and “tantra” in some books on spirituality and healing. But what’s the real real meaning of these words?

Are All Energy Healings the Same?

The answer to this is no. Every energy healings are used in different cultures and do different things. In this post I will explain Pranic and Reiki and what are used in the healings.

Pranic

The Chakras or Energy Centres are terms used in Pranic healing, an ancient Hindu system of healing energies. “Prana” means life energy. “Aura” is another word traced to Pranic healing. An aura is a body that of energy, which exists along with our physical body. The aura that covers our body is said to have seven layers related to the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual aspects of an individual. Studying the color and thickness of an aura, can give us an idea to the state of health of an individual. There are six colors associated with the aura and they’re interpreted into six different personalities. These colors are all present in an individual but one or two have more brighhtness and colour to them.

The six defferent personalities are as followed:
Green – ambitious achiever
Blue – spiritual peacemaker
White – unconventional chameleon
Red – activist
Orange – creative communicator
Violet – psychic

Reiki

Unlike Pranic healings, which has Hindu origins, Reiki originated from Japan. It is relatively younger than Pranic healings having been rediscovered in the early 1900’s. Reiki stands for universal energy, an energy brought forth by higher intelligence. Students of Reiki are taught how to tap this energy to heal physical, emotional, and mental illnesses.

Although Pranic and Reiki are both systems of energy healing, they differ in the type of energy tapped for healing: life energy and universal energy respectively.

The concepts of the connectedness of mind, body, and spirit; the connection of individuals to all living and nonliving things around them and to the universe; and how energy impacts physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being are some of the salient similarities of these three healing methods.

Why Do People Turn to Energy Healing?

Pranic, Tantric, and Reiki are considered alternative methods of healing. In spite of the availability and relative accessibility of modern medicine, how come more and more people are being drawned to them? Here are some reasons:

· Energy healing worked where modern medicine failed.

For several reasons both explainable and unexplainable, modern medical treatment failed to heal ailments and conditions in several if not many persons. Research or data may not be able to support this statement. But for the families of the dying as well as for the dying patient, they would take the risk of using alternative methods ranging from herbals and organics, faith healers, witch doctors, and New Age healing techniques just to be get well.

· People perceive modern medicine to be isolating.

Medical treatments are oftentimes focused on the disease and its causative agent, which can make a patient feel isolated and treated like a mere host of the disease. Although recent developments in hospital practice are gradually promoting the holistic treatment of a patient, the perception still persists. Unlike in energy healing, since energy and spirituality are intimately linked, the patient feels that all aspects of his health are being attended to

· Energy healing is a good way of relieving stress.

Meditation is part and parcel of energy healing methods and this is an added come-on for highly stressed people. Moreover, sophisticated equipment is not required thus it becomes all the more convenient for students and future students of energy healing.

The battle between alternative healing and mainstream medicine continues as both present the benefits of their approach. But in the final analysis, what matters is the restoration of good health.

That Psychic Girl talks to Dorothy Holder from Energy Therapies

Auras, Blog Talk Radio, Chakras, Learn To Be Psychic September 27th, 2009

aura readingThis week on my Blog Talk Radio Show, I talked to Dorothy Holder from EnergyTherapies.co.nz.

Dorothy is a clairvoyant energy therapist, specialising in reading energy on many levels. Reading auras, gaining information on personality, past lives, relationships etc. Dorothy also reads pets and has workshops teaching psychic development and the Vibrational expansion technique® for practitioners.

Dorothy doesn’t connect the word “psychic” with her line of work. Her main line of work is an energy therapist and she also does reading so that people can make an informed choice. She also, physically, sees auras with her eyes.

Dorothy was a “late bloomer”, she had a few experiences, when she was young, which scared her. The thing that really interested her was the voice inside her head that was so loud that it was impossible to ignore and she spent the next two years trying to hear that voice again. This triggered a chain of self-healing and resolving issues in her life.

Aura reading was something Dorothy specifically set out to learn and she studied psychometry to develop the skill. Initially she relied on her guides and her third eye to read and interpret auras, but she found over time, through consistent practice she started seeing them visually.

I asked Dorothy how seeing auras helps with the healing process, and she shared that reading auras is information and information allows her to provide a more meaningful analysis to her clients. For example if she sees red in around the head chakra opposed to red the heart chakra, she’ll provide different advice. By bringing someone’s awareness to a specific area of their body and getting to focus and think about it, it actually changes the way they use that energy.

For Dorothy it’s about using information to allow her clients to make informed decision that will benefit their lives.

Dorothy also spoke about past lives and she believes that you bring the base personality to each life. While individuals current circumstances will modify their response it will not change their base personality. When Dorothy describes something to a client from one of their past lives, that resonates with something in their present lives. They’re often more open to suggestions of change that will lead beneficial result.

Dorothy suggests that some base personality traits that have a negative impact on your life will manifest themselves in your current life. She uses past life techniques to identify the origin of these traits in order for her clients to be able to overcome  those negative aspects. It doesn’t mean that you haven’t learnt from that aspect, it means that you haven’t evolved it.  The point is that, while the base personality is fixed and transferred from life to life, it doesn’t compromise free choice. Being aware of aspects of past lives that impact your current life allows you to make informed decisions.

Have fun listening.

Chakras

Chakras, Learn To Be Psychic May 6th, 2008

Merriam Webster’s dictionary defines chakras as “any of several points of physical or spiritual energy in the body according to yoga philosophy. The word chakra literally means wheel in Sanskrit and can be traced back to the late 1800’s.

What Merriam Webster does not state is that there are seven chakras and they are located parallel to the spine. These pinpoints of energy command the mental properties and impact our attitudes about life. They range from the root chakra which is the grounding force that allows the physical self to claim its territory to the crown chakra which is the awareness force that allows the self to be spiritually aware of the world. In order for these different energies to be influential they must be considered “open” or active. If one chakra is not active then the others ones will often compensate for the missing energy and become “overactive.” Balancing the chakras is the ideal way to bring harmony into your being.

The first chakra is the root chakra. This chakra is often associated with the color red and is located at the base of the spine. As indicated from its location this chakra is influential in grounding and allowing the physical self to feel “at home.” This chakra dictates ones ability to be welcome and belong to any given situation. It dictates self preservation and the will to live. When this chakra is open you will feel secure in the world. This is also the most obvious starting point to begin to open the chakras. In order to open a chakra it is important to feel welcome in the word.

The next chakra is the Sacral. Associated with the vibrant shade of orange this energy source commands feelings and sexuality. Located below the belly button the sacral stimulates creative life forces. This chakra governs the reproductive system as well as the digestive system and is known as a health related energy center. This energy source also lends fluidity and grace to our lives as it allows us to connect with others through desires, sensation and movement.

Next is the Solar Plexus or the power spot.  This chakra is located behind the stomach and below the breastbone. Associated with the color yellow this area is about asserting yourself in a group. When this chakra is open and active you will confident in groups and have positive self-esteem. However, indecisive and passive behavior often indicates a closed Solar Plexus. Domineering and aggressive behavior could indicate an over-active Solar Plexus.

The fourth chakra is aptly named the Heart. Located in the center of the chest this chakra is associated with the color green. It commands love, hope and compassion. An active and vital Heart chakras allows us to lve deeply and feel compassion for others. As the center chakra is a series of seven it also allows use to balance opposites such as male and female or black and white.

Chakra five is know as the Throat. Located at the throat it is therefore related to communication. The Throat is associated with the color blue and has much to do with we relate to the world through sound.

After the Throat comes the Third Eye. This chakra is located in the middle of the forehead and is often depicted with the color purple. It represents seeing in both the physical and non-physical realms. When open and functioning properly this chakra allows us to understand both the world around us and our place among it.

The last chakra is one associated with much idealism. It is the crown and commands consciousness. This chakra is what connects us with knowledge of the world beyond the physical sense. When cultivated properly this chakra, located at the top of the head, brings us wisdom and spiritual connection.
